Above And Beyond...

Cow On The Hill

As I was finishing my call out last night I bumped into the boss and jokingly told him not to call me out as I wanted the day with Mrs BB as it was her last day off.

Mid-day we set off from home for a five mile circular walk, first following the footpath along The River Rhymney and then around Ruperra Iron Age Hillfort into Rudry, Draethen and then home. Not long after passing Ruperra Castle ruins on the ridge, I saw the sun burning through the haze we've had for the past couple of days. This cow was on the ridge of a hill, watching us, and the idea for a picture was borne.

No sooner than finishing the 5 mile walk I was looking forward to a sit down and coffee. Mrs BB has an amazing reserve of energy and started cutting the grass, normally my job. I intended doing it in the week but she wanted it done today! I couldn't sit and relax with a guilty conscience so did the strimming and got the washing in. She really is a human dynamo. Even after swimming a couple of miles she'll come home and do stuff around the house.

My son who's back from Malaysia called in on his way back to Frome as he'd been in Cardiff for the weekend. He's just started a full time job in Frome as part of the first step of his wife and two children living here.

The step-son had called in just before we went for the walk. He wanted a large pan to cook a gammon and was hobbling. Last night he'd dropped a knife into his foot but wouldn't go to hospital as he's on call. You never stop worrying about your children - even when they're grown up!
