GULL AT THE BEACH

looking for food and actually found it.
The day started with mist, but when the sun came, Piet Hein and I headed for the beach. We cycled as far as the Zandmotor. There we walked on the endless sand till we reached the sea. Walking southwards in the direction of Monster. No swimming today for Piet Hein. Just enjoying the salt air, the blue water, the blue sky and each other's company.
In the afternoon we sat on the balcony, reading and I have to admit, sleeping a bit.

My haiku:

Envy? Of the gull?
Could I compete with the joy
I see in the jump?

And the quote by Victor Hugo, "Saint Denis" Les Misérables, 1862:

Thought is the labour of the intellect, reverie is its pleasure.
