Jontys' Hound Friends

On our walk this morning we met Hania and some of her hounds.
We occasionally bump into Hania, or her husband Tony, walking their hounds of which they had 6 rescued from a hunt group. They have four left and Tony joined us with the noisy one he tends to walk alone as he is not as sociable as the others, the hound, not Tony!

Hania is the daughter of a quite heroic Polish fighter pilot who made an arduous journey from Poland to the UK when the Polish government told their forces to disperse following the German invasion of 1939.
Squadron Leader Wladyslaw Jan Nowak escaped from Poland and travelled through Romania, Syria, Beirut and France to get to the UK where he served with 306 Squadron. He was the first Polish pilot to have an enemy kill recorded in a night fighter.  His flying career ended when he was badly burned after being shot down.
Hanias' elder sister, Krysia, compiled his diaries into a book of his exploits, a very interesting read, but more of a diary biography, not a novel.
Cover is my extra photo today.
