The Cliffe Arms
Just back from a super trip to the Malverns. It turns out that Mathon, where we stayed, is in Herefordshire not Worcestershire. This photograph shows the building next door to the cottage. It was a lovely village pub until it closed eight years ago. Some locals tried to buy it but the owner wanted too much money. So, it has steadily decayed since then.
We had a difficult second evening: we discovered that none of us had thought to bring gravy-making materials, despite the dinner being roast beef. Amanda went across the road to "borrow" some and came back with two types. Extremely friendly, welcoming people down there.
