Palazzo Pitti

This is the palace I mentioned yesterday. Duke Cosimo moved to this grand palace outside of the centre, after which it was enlarged several times, together with it's gardens (Giardino di Boboli).

The Medici's once bought it from the Pitti family, and miraculously the building retained their name up to now. Remarkable, considering the Medici's in their time as dukes put their name and especially their coat of arms on just about everything :)
