dumb engineer

Some day  we all  hope he will be replaced by a live engineer in charge of the working triple expansion engine (see xtra) on this fine old paddle steamer "Maid of the Loch"
The "Loch" is Loch Lomond where she sailed from 1953 to 1981 before being laid up here at Balloch Pier. Built by A&J Inglis in Glasgow she was dismantled for the tricky journey to Balloch and reassembled.
£3.8 million has been promised from the HLF recently if the supporters can raise the £1.7 million needed to reinstate her boiler and engines and hull. A faithful  band of volunteers have worked hard above and below decks to restore her for visitors and functions and it would be great to enjoy her 4 bars! again as many of us did in the 60s and 70s as she paddles her way between all the piers
