Raindrops on Roses

A second, wonderful day at Ascot - despite the weather.

I've been dithering over which one of several shots to post, but think this one fits both the June Challenge and the day best.

It poured down at lunchtime, and then cleared for the start of racing. There were a couple of heavy downpours during the afternoon which sent the lightweights scuttling for shelter, but the sun did shine some of the time.

By the last race it got colder and colder as the wind got stronger and stronger.
There were flying and broken gazebos littering the car parks, and two stretch limos were stuck up to their axles in mud.

Without doubt, Frankie Dettori was a hugely popular winner of the Gold Cup on Colour Vision.

Welcome Summer, the longest day is over and it's downhill all the way to the winter solstice!

Back down to earth with a bump tomorrow as I'm back to work. But at least I can always remember a few of my favourite things
