Marjorie's ramblings

Last day on the islands

My extra photo today is an early morning shot of the wonderful Baile na Cile, the perfect place to stay when on Lewis.

I drove to Tarbert for the lunchtime ferry. We had a smooth crossing but there was no sign of dolphins.

Back on Skye, I drove to Glendale again, this time to visit the croft where I used to stay on holiday. Roger, the son of my old friends, Hyla and Joan, now lives in the croft with his wife Andrea. They work as Skye Weavers.

Roger is seated here at the double width loom where he cycles away and produces the softest wool fabric you can imagine. I came away with a scarf for me and one for Mum.

Their small house is full of the blankets, throws and scarves they produce and there is hardly room for anyone to sit down!  They seem to be doing well with their cottage industry.

I drove on to Roy Bridge for my B & B. This will be my last night on holiday.

This is my fifth back blip. Nearly done!
