Bennachie
Last night's hotel was at the foot of Bennachie (emphasis on the last syllable). It is not a particularly high mountain (1700 ft) but because of the flat landscape around, it is very prominent. Its name is derived from the Gaelic meaning 'Hill of the Breast' and this blipped summit is called the 'Mither Tap'.
For those from the area, seeing Bennachie means getting near home with all the emotions which that prompts. Ellen handled it well and today's tours of artist studios coincided with important places from her childhood. Given that there were over 200 studios we could have visited, it was as good a way as any to make a selection.
Overall conclusion - the North-East is bursting with creativity.
