Quasar's got new clothes!
For all the ladies out there my "other" lady finally looked decent on Saturday - all ready for a night out on the town! After about 12 months, we have new covers - the others had fallen apart some months ago. I have been chasing and chasing the upholsterer and maybe he is typical of all "artisans" - someone you can't really fall out with despite the interminable delays. The covers fit really well - do not worry about the creases etc. they will disappear once the sun and the rain has been at the covers and they stretch into the perfect shape.
Then we went for a quick trip around the Marina and checked on Zebu (sadly still under water!). On the way back I let my youngest brother, David, take the wheel. David is special needs having had a run in with a drug called thalidomide over 50 years ago. He's very slight because mum never read instructions and anyway when she started taking the drug to combat morning sickness she became more sick so stopped taking it.
Just a few weeks after he was born he developed a lump in his stomach where a lump shouldn't be - he was then youngest baby in history to have a kidney removed and survive. Unfortunately he suffered brain damage which was a problem then, related to how they anaesthetised very young babies - too much pure oxygen. But look at him now - at the helm of my beautiful "super-yacht" - ho ho... He handled Quasar very well and with confidence. Despite his special needs David lives his life to the full and is extremely independent. He has said he would like to take a trip on the River Mersey soon - looking forward to it!
