St Paul's

Went to Sung Eucharist this morning. The cathedral was much more than half full (capacity 3,500). The ecumenical welcome was very sincere and detailed. Even the standard phrases - printed in the Order of Service - "Baptised Christians who take Communion in their own Church are welcome......" was replaced verbally by "Wherever you are on your faith journey, you are welcome at this table."

The music was Palestrina and Bach. Magnificent choral singing, and organ playing. Yet, there was a hymn by Alan Gaunt. The sermon was competent, the Communion distributed effectively, and the time from the last words of the Communion to the Dismissal was minimal. Excellent.
