Budding actuaries

A return to the other side of the chalk face for the first class of the new university term. Despite my usual first day nerves, I was definitely back in my comfort zone being a lecturer again rather than a student. It wasn't hard to switch into teaching mode, whereas it has been difficult on occasion in the last few weeks to remember that my place in the pecking order at college is low. Very low indeed.

Twenty two countries represented this year - India wins (10), with China next (5), followed by Taiwan and Thailand (4). Only three from Scotland, and nobody who owned up to being English.
