Always Something

This is a Four Inch Naval Shell casing, WW1 vintage. Because of its length I think it may have been a Parachute Flare, known as Star Shell.

This one is a kind of family heirloom on Clare's side. It is now residing in the shed as Josh has decided it needs polishing. With 100 years of accumulated verdigris encrusted on it I reckon it'll keep me occupied up until Christmas at least.
