Bottoms Up!

Apologies to all the arachnophobes, but I couldn't resist this beautiful Spotted Western Orbweaver in the morning light.  Besides, I'm out of peanuts and I felt guilty calling my squirrels to pose with no rewards for them. These spiders are not aggressive and, if they do bite, they are not poisonous.  I believe this is a female because she was quite large.  She was very obliging and tolerated my prodding with a small stick to get her to move about on her web while I snapped away.  I liked this shot because I could see two of her 6 eyes looking at me from her inverted postion.  :-)  Here is a link to more information if you are interested.
