Kangaroo Paws
My sister-in-law Carol and I snuck out really early this morning and headed up to Kings Park to try and take some images of the wildflowers before the crowds arrived. It was absolutely magnificent and with a bright blue sky and little wind at 7.00am we really enjoyed the experience.
We walked along the "Nature Trail" and before you could go 5 metres there were flowers everywhere. We were lucky to stumble across an incredible glen of green and red kangaroo paws. This is the one we all tend to think of as the traditional variety and they're extraordinarily beautiful, particularly when you see them in their natural environment.
I have added a couple of extras of some other beautiful flowers that we saw today. I'm going to revisit the Park with notebook in hand and track down the names of all of the varieties I have photographed.
It's been another glorious day in my home town. So good not knowing what tomorrow may bring. I would love to find the time to set up a Flickr page so that I can publish a lot more of the wildflowers I've photographed.
