Yellowstone or Bust!

The Back-blipping of the Road Warriors will now begin. this may take awhile, but we'll get there. We're still adventuring!

The fearless Sisters of the Road are off to Yellowstone and points beyond! We zoom through the Big Hole Valley once again, where the end pf summer roundup is taking place (main foto).
We stayed in Alder Gulch in an over-one-hundred-years-old miner's cabin in the ghost town. *MK peeks from the door*. Over 100 old buildings had been moved and partially restored in Nevada City/Alder Gulch by the Bovey family in the '40s and 50's. And yes, that is a 2-story outhouse attached to the old hotel....and it still works! *extra fotos*
Alder Gulch was one of Montana's first gold strikes in 1863. It was soon swarmed by placer miners and gold-panners and became known as "14-Mile City" as they stretched along the banks of Alder Creek. $30 million worth of gold was taken out of this rich strike before their luck ran out. Charlie Bovey fell in love with the area and saved nearby Virginia City and those buildings still house working businesses today. We enjoyed trading stories in the Bale of Hay Saloon that night and fell asleep among the ghosts of Alder Gulch.
