Recycling Icons
Every once in a while, the stars align and I take a photo at our farmers' market that becomes an informal icon. This one from last season, of Anna from Osprey Hill Farm, has now risen to that status, with publication in the Bellingham Herald's Guide to Summer 2012 and on the cover of the Washington State Farmers Market 2012 Directory.
I go to the Bellingham Farmers Market nearly every week during the market season, hoping to catch more images like this, but all too often, someone walks in front of me, or is wearing clothing adorned with emblems or words, or the light isn't right, or... I'm sure all of you can add to that list!
I think I'll practice at the Larimer County Farmers Market this Saturday, in the heart of downtown Fort Collins. The market's hours are short -- 8 a.m. to noon -- but that works with our VIP tickets for the Colorado Brewers' Festival, which give us a 90-minute head start over the crowds.
(Guess what I saw in the back garden this morning? I'm not sure this is the one who was ravaging our barberries out front yesterday, but s/he seemed to have a guilty conscience. And I hadn't realized how colorful young blueberry berries are until I was taking a break from weeding and saw these -- take a look!)
