Teacher's strike Day 2
I made this quick collage of iPhone pix trying to relax and recover after 7 hours of Fiona's constant chatter and energetic movement and then the iPad wouldn't upload it! so... trying again...with computer...
The teachers don't seem to be closer to a contract agreement (picketing here today at our neighborhood school) so we took the girls so their parents could work. (the other Dad was "off" today.)
We have been talking with Fiona for awhile about taking the bus downtown to the central library - she still thinks the bus is an adventure! -so today was the day. The car was in for service anyway. Tatum came along too and isn't too fond of heights so wouldn't look over the big views in this very interesting building (there are some good photos of it in this link) by Dutch Architect Rem Koolhaas, built in 2004. We walked all through it, including the red floor of meeting rooms. Fiona's favorite part was the chartruese escalator with the hologram head talking from the wall. We did check out a book from the fabulous childrens' section - I was surprised there were't more kids there today...and spent some time playing. Then they were hungry so we went to the nearby Seattle art museum for a very late lunch in the cafe they like so much. and there was more playing in this also very interesting building. (the last pix)
We are the city grandparents so do like to spend time with them in this fine city --I know I complain a lot about the traffic but it does have a lot to offer.
And we even managed to just pick up our car today -it's now ready for a road trip on Tuesday. I sure hope this strike is over by then!! and Fiona at least, is very anxious to go to kindergarten!
Couldn't resist this link to this building, a very early blip..with Oskar 5 + years ago...
