Today's the day .......................... to obscure

Oh dear - there were a few reasons why the French walking group would have been quite justified in feeling down-hearted today.

For a start, we woke up to a typical east coast haar that obscured everything and brought the pleasant temperatures experienced yesterday plummeting down to single figures.  We Brits tried to reassure that it would all be gone in an hour.  In actual fact, it clung on for most of the morning and even when you could see more than a few feet in front of you, it remained doggedly chilly.

We were spending the day on the Black Isle - in the vicinity of the village of Cromarty.  Having spent time around there in the past, I know that the views from the coastal path across to Nigg would have been stunning - if only we could have seen them.  And when we ended up the day at Chanonry Point so that everyone could watch the dolphins, I know that it would have been breath-taking - if only they had appeared.  Having said all that, the group were not in the least down-hearted.  In fact they were positively energised all day - and seemed to take everything in their stride. 

Of course, there is one obvious difference between British walking groups and French ones as shown in the extra photos.  A large box of wine (and plastic goblets to drink it with) appeared at lunch time - and if there were any flagging spirits, they were instantly uplifted ....................
