Monday: MacDougal Street

A final, but still very full day. We started off at the Whitney Museum, having walked there along the High Line. Given that queues yesterday were around the block, we pre-booked for today. It turned out to be completely unnecessary as we were able to walk right in. Anyway, we loved it, particularly the seventh floor where I was able to enjoy my beloved Hoppers and similar.

From there, we headed to Union Square for some book browsing (yes, and purchasing) before heading to MacDougal Street for a Vietnamese lunch. While there, we had a wonderfully random encounter with an incredibly educated man who, on the face of it, looked a bit down and out. He was selling books out of a plastic bag and we ended up buying some pretty interesting books of him. He was asking so little, and was so nice to talk to, we gave him a bit more than he asked for. I should have photographed him, particularly as my new small camera has given me greater confidence. It was so liberating to walk round with just the small compact.

And then, early evening trip out to JFK, for an overnight flight to Paris. This particular trip might be over but my holiday isn't yet.......
