Just before 1100 on Thursday - we stepped off the train in Milngavie
Just after 1100 On Monday, we're on the platform in Fort William.

In the intervening 96 hours, we walked the 96 miles of the West Highland Way. A bit of time to relax together....

So, she dropped G at school, I met her there and we headed up to the station. She declined my romantic notion to meet under the station clock...

And west we went; to Milngavie. Selfies done and duly posted to Facebook, we shipped out, into a sunny morning. Dappled shady woods and a lack of noise greeted us; we ploughed on past a lone fallow deer in Mugdock, the huts at Carbeth, and the first glimpse of the highlands as we turned off the road there. Dumgoyne towering over us, past the distillery (too early for a drink with 20 miles to cover).
Lunch just before Drymen in the blazing sunshine, homemade mushroom soup and cheese rolls.

Then to Dryman for supplies (we weren't sure of the opening hours at our destination).

And back out again, through the scariest path and some dung spreading, and up up up, the sun beating down, on towards Conic Hill; we struggled up and over and as the sun went lower in the sky, glorious views but we were flagging by now.

An hour later, we were in the hostel in Balmaha, checked in and a cold beer on the side of Loch Lomond before the midges started biting and dinner / shower beckoned.
20 miles down, 76 to go, and done in 6 and a half hours. A good start to proceedings.
