Heating Up

I was going to have to be satisfied with 5 buzzards in a tree...or a pretty green MG, when I saw them prepping the hot air balloon. If nothing else, it is VERY colorful.

I was watching the balloon people and the riders-to-be. The balloon people start with an industrial-sized fan, before they begin to add the flames. The riders pose for pictures, waiting for their cue to load. The balloon finally rises off the ground, and 2 workers hold it to earth with ropes.

One thing I didn't like. Their were some elderly women riders, and they had no small ladder or steps to help them into the basket. (Of course...I got pictures.) I took a 10 shot sequence of the oldest gal, and she was stuck with just one leg over. C'MON PEOPLE! SOMEBODY HELP HER!

I was torn between posting the picture of the airborne balloon, but I liked this one.

I  have crossed the balloon ride off my bucket list. My Dad and I went many years ago. It was fun, but to me it wasn't something I want to do again.

10 people on this flight. 9 riders and the pilot. It was a hot night (87F), so I bet with the fire breathing machine...it was REALLY hot.
