The Chiding Stone

The ancient village of Chiddingstone in Kent is called after this stone but there is confusion as to whether the origin is the stone of Chidda;  a saxon chief  or whether it was a place of passing judgment . ie the "chiding stone" .  Maybe Chidda is the origin of chiding because he chided people on this stone............
Whatever - as it was a lovely sunny afternoon,  I persuaded Mr P (still with a dodgy back) to come out for a drive and to hobble the short path to the stone where he quickly sat down to rest his back.  Off to the chiropractor tomorrow.
