Reredos detail

P. and I went to the Hospice at Ille-sur-Tet and were intrigued with this detail which I believe represents Elizabeth and the Virgin Mary.  The other side to the altarpiece is definitely the Annunciation.  There was a quantity of religious art displayed as well as articles relating to the building's former use as a hospital for the poor.  I had a long conversation with the conservator who has agreed to come and assess one the items at our own church requiring restoration.  In the afternoon, we enjoyed P.'s talk on the relationship between language and thought, language and cultural difference and the ease or difficulty of expressing different concepts between languages.
