Between fen and mountains

Casot

The vernacular term for a stone hut in a vineyard, or a cabane de pierre sèche, in this part of Catalonia is a casot.  However, in another part of France they might look at you blankly as, when I researched the term , I found over a hundred alternatives depending on the location.  It is worth remembering that until the 19th century, such was the plethora of dialects,  you might struggle to understand someone living only 30 miles away.  The grapes in this vineyard were poor and it looked like it was on the road to abandon.
