Happy Birthday

Mr C had to make a visit to the optician to collect his broken specs, now fixed, then go to the dentist to see about the on-going teeth saga - he'll be going away with the pirate smile - 2 missing front teeth, not his best look.

I went round to play with Ella and Nathaniel. Their Dad's sister was looking after them while he slept after nights, as #3 daughter was back to work. Here Ella is putting finishing touches to the cake she and Auntie Cath made for Daddy's birthday, (she counted up orrectly to the 20 candles on the cake - no room for 45, as she wanted to give a plastic elephant pride of place)while I kept Nathaniel out of the way. He kept shouting "Chocolate cake, chocolate cake!" However I'd taken some of our peas from the garden so he happily podded them and of course ate the peas.

It was so sad to say goodbye to them, as it was yesterday saying goodbye to Thomas and James. (And saying goodbye to the daughters too of course). I've never been on such a long trip since I was a student. I hope I have the student stamina!
