a new year!

turning something old into something new....

solid nights sleep after two late nights, and double shift at 49. up and had poached egg & smoked haddock for breakfast! v nice start to diet!

on the school run this week, and love picking up prince for our journey to school. there won't be that many more chances to do this, so i enjoy every second. Mum had packed him up with his list of demands...cheese cob, fruit shoot, boost. he loves mums cheese cobs, and said for breakfast when asked what he wanted, he'd meant to say cheese cob, instead of cheerios!

dropped him off, and into work.

not bad for a Monday at all. makes a difference when the sun is shining though, and i enjoyed a walk on the sunny side of the square at lunchtime. as i walked across Old Market Square, i counted the empty flagpoles which could've had a union jack for the Queens visit last week - 12 of them! shocking really.

good afternoon and then hometime. mission for this evening was to rub down my cast iron fireplace (a bargain i'd picked up from a timber yard...£60). i then applied the first lot of paint. another coat, and then the black lead polish. once done, it'll be ready to take pride of place as a new coal fire for 49.

at last we have a reasonably dry and warm evening to make the most of. it's nearly the longest day, so we'd better make the most of such nights
