Smogen, Sweden

We had been looking forward to this wedding for a long time, our friend and Marks former PhD student was getting married to a Chinese American guy she had met in Manhatten where she now works. The wedding was to be in Sweden where her parents live. However, 10 days before the wedding Mark got a call to say the wedding was off, the bride to be was beside herself and was in the dark with the explanation given. We decided to fly out anyway to support Ulrika as she had her flights to Sweden booked.

Smogen is the Swedish fishing village next to her Parents summer house in Bollvastrand. We should have been taking a boat from the harbour on Sunday with the wedding party, to Bollvastrand where the wedding was taking place, and then getting the boat back for the reception meal. But it was not to be instead we met up with the New Yorkers for drinks and tapas who had also decided to come, to figure out what on earth had happened.
