Unusual entrance

Catching up blood as the office flower show has been all consuming.

We managed to catch up with my goddaughter and her family today (I was at school with her father). They were up for the festival and catching up with family.

As they were staying in Leith we met up at a local Tapa bar. The restaurant is partly managed by my godson ( who got married in Poznan last year - see September blips last year) and even though it was his night off he and his wife called in to say hello. So my goddaughter met my godson for the first time.

After the meal we headed back to the flat where the family were staying, in Maritime street. The converted lofts were spacious and fascinating, as was the entrance hall, which had these metal runners as part of the flooring. A Google search suggested that the buildings had used to be bonded warehouses and the entrance must have been for rolling out the barrels.

With that and the fretwork on the door it looked most unlike Edinburgh - or even Leith.

It all made for a most enjoyable and convivial evening.
