Little Murphy

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers reading!

We decided this afternoon to take a ride to Letchworth State Park to celebrate the day. What a lovely day it was, too!

We stopped by the dam overlook, where this gigantic chair is placed to take souvenir photos of the beautiful Genesee River Gorge in the background. And since neither of our offspring volunteered to sit in the large chair, I volunteered little Murphy. My, he looks so very tiny, doesn't he?

Last winter was such a complete bust, as far as snow goes. Letchworth is a fabulous park for snowmobiling! The park actually allows snowmobiles to ride the roadway in the winter and the scenery is spectacular. With the crisp winter conditions, the views of the gorge are truly breathtaking.

As we walked along the trails today, my brain was racing in fast forward mode, thinking about snowmobiling! Husband said in reading the snowmobile forums, the oldtimers say that when the snow is sparse one year, look out the next!

After visiting the park, we headed on southward to the southern tier and west to Cuba, NY. The backroads we took were new to us, and oh my goodness!!! We passed through some Amish communities and oh what great photos I could have gotten if we had more time!

One great missed opportunity was a young couple walking along the side of the road, backs to us. The young lady was barefoot and her fellow was swinging a five gallon bucket as they moved along. Although the Amish are opposed to posing for photos, an opportunity such as this one was nearly painful as we whizzed by in the truck.

Note to self....I must take this road again! I must!

Our trip ended at a small store where we ordered pizza and wings. They were yummy and we had a nice little time! The drive home was nice, too, as the predicted thunderstorms held off for the day, making this Father's Day a lovely one, indeed!
