Getting out for a good walk is an end in itself.
Son #1 and I had a Dad and son bonding day, like you do.
All pleasure, no pain.
Sugarloaf (1955 feet) in the pouring rain and a forecast of thunder and lightning - we made sure we went up in the bit of the forecast that was just for heavy, waterproof penetrating rain.
A short pause in the Sugarloaf vineyard for a hot drink and to purchase some Sugarloaf produced wine before heading for Ysgyryd Fawr.
We made the mistake of encountering a fleet of National Grid vans down a single track lane and then had to reverse about half a mile, for which they were very grateful at least!
Up Ysgyryd Fawr (1594 feet) which I've looked at for about 20 years and thought about walking up. Fantastic it was too, despite a very steep ascent up the northern end. There was a chapel at the summit at one time and Wikipedia tells me that Rudolf Hess used to like a stroll up here when he was held prisoner nearby!
