Côte d’Opale

That bit of coast between Calais and Boulogne, known to very few British people. I suppose most people arriving in Calais head south immediately and miss out on this really lovely bit of France. We have explored it on and off over many years and it was nice today to return and have a few hours wandering along fabulous beaches, through sand dunes, and up hills to admire the stunning views.

 
It got its name apparently because of the ever-changing interplay of greys and blues in the sea and sky. Very apparent this afternoon, as we watched the rain clouds over England. We got the storm just as we arrived back at the hotel.
 
So why are we staying on both sides of the Channel? That’s a really good question! I blame the Tour Organiser, except there isn’t one!
