Tempting them out

I arrived opposite the Kingfisher nest and asked how things were going on. The regulars were convinced that the male is now trying to tempt the babies out by reducing their food.  He had been very active a few days ago, but was now making them wait for their fish.

He did appear fairly quickly and took a fish into the nest, dived into the water to wash, and then sped off. Shortly afterwards, he perched on the log fairly close.

Then he fed them a couple of times.

I just get carried away watching him through the binoculars. I won't say I forget to take photos, but the real magic is just seeing him in action, close up and for real. I even managed to get home too late to see Usain Bolt in the semifinal of the 200m.

Not quite a crisp shot, but the extra photo shows him in flight, heading off to catch another fish.
