Halifax Central Library
The Danish architecture firm of schmidt hammer lassen created this very impressive building. It has five stories and is 11,000 square metres in size. The central atrium is crisscrossed by stairs and pathways. The children's collection is concentrated on the lower floors and as one ascends the stairs, the ambience is more like the old fashioned quiet space of libraries of old...except for the computer banks, conference rooms and enclosed work stations, of course. Oh, and the coffee bar. We stopped to watch the Domino installation come down - about 10 minutes for all to fall. Jackson and a few others helped Domino Man gather and sort his dominoes.
