Gatekeeper

We went down to the nature reserve after lunch with the intention of spotting some birds but there wasn't much about at all  -   I should know this and learn to be patient.  The trouble is it seems such a long time since I could go out and be confident in coming home with some nice bird shots  -  wherever do they go at this time of year? 

There were very slim pickings today, just a few poor shots of flowers and berries but  then we saw this butterfly, and although not a perfect specimen he/she still makes a nice shot.
