The train now standing on platform 2..............

.................has not yet arrived.

Stopped off in Pickering for a quick visit on out way home from holiday in N Yorkshire.

We had planned to sop off in Whitby for some kippers, crab and other bits & pieces but saw the traffic queue into the town so diverted to Pickering which was, sort of, on the way home.

It was interesting to see from a large photograph on a poster close to where I was standing, how the cuts of the 60's have changed the face of the town completely.

Where there is now a new road way and shops etc, the line used to continue from the end of the platform to the rest of the then known world. Well, the UK at least.

There was a signal box and level crossing close to where my Blip was taken, along with various other railway related buildings.

I wonder though. Would we have been having as much fun on the NYMR if the cuts had not taken place?

I think not.

The perfect end to a great family holiday.
