Because The Night Belongs To Lovers
We did it! Months of planning and hard work all came together in one amazing, incredible, beautiful, relaxed, fun, inspiring, loved-filled day.
We spent the morning putting finishing touches to the Legion, and decorating our huge wedding cake. Finally, around 11am it was all done and G and I went our separate ways to get ready. I had some time at mine with Mum before three friends came round for a quick lunch and some much-needed Bellini's. We cracked on getting ready with hair and make up, and the time just slipped away and before I knew it, I was in my dress and it was time to go!
The day was everything we could ever have dreamed of; we'd hoped to create an informal and fun day, as full of 'us' as possible, and I think we did it. The ceremony was beautiful but flashed past. Hanging out in the garden afterwards in the sunshine gave us time to catch our breath. A walk along the river to the reception was lovely with people congratulating us along the way. Dinner was a bit rushed, but the speeches were just fantastic. Cutting the cake, throwing confetti and the first dance all happened very quickly as we realised we only had the photographer for half an hour more! The party then properly got started and we danced the night away. It all got suitable drunken and fun and we didn't want it to end. A happy mistake led to us having the same first dance as last dance (the playlist re-started itself), but it was just perfect and I'll never forget the overwhelming feeling of utter joy during that last dance. We then all went outside to do sparklers and lanterns, before some more relaxed dancing. After lots of goodbyes, a small group of us ended the night drinking Prosecco on the quay looking at the stars. It was a day full of so many different emotions, and at times very hard without Dad there, but I know he would have loved it.
