2015 Sunday -- Me (& Chloe) and My Shadow

I spent a portion of this day looking through magazines at photos of kitchen cabinets: designs, colors, and the variety of features. This week we will drive into Paseo Robles again this time to go to a cabinet shop to select kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets. Then we will visit the countertop store to discuss and select the countertops for kitchen and bathrooms.

So this afternoon we had the privilege of visiting across the street in Karen & Mark's home to see their kitchen design. We had seen it when our construction workers were doing the remodel there. Karen walked over in the late afternoon to let us know they had arrived home and that we were welcome to come over to see their place.

The visit was helpful for me as Karen explained some of the features in her kitchen. Her refrigerator and dishwasher are "panel ready" and look just like the cabinets. The "lazy susan" in the corner cabinet is a feature that I want. I also like the pullout cabinet for the trash and recycle bins.

Karen took us downstairs to see their office with the custom built-in desk and cabinets. It is beautiful and next to it is a small room that used to be an outdoor deck that they had enclosed years ago. There she mentioned to me "window casings" which was a new concept for me. Karen said it was new for her as well when the construction guys suggested doing them. She said her interior designer thought they would be a waste of money and Karen now thinks it was some of the best money she spent because the windows all look so nicely finished. Overall, Karen gave me some things to think about.
