William Chambers
A wet day, so in the morning I set about updating my rides on Strava, planning the Summer Spokes Ride for Sunday and back blipping.
In the afternoon I head down to the National Museum of Scotland in Chambers Street to visit the exhibition "Photography: A Victorian Sensation". It covers the development of photography from the first popular daguerreotypes on metal plates and calotypes on paperto the first Kodak Brownies in 1900. I was quite taken by the daguerreotypes as I felt they had a 3D aspect to them.
Afterwards, it was still raining, and I managed to get this image of William Chambers, after whom Chambers Street is named, outside the museum. The wardens look like they are looking for a lost traffic cone. Obviously this statue is too high to get a cone on the head of the statue.
I wandered up to get some coffee, and was taken photos of the Flodden Wall and Castle when my G9 stopped working. It suddenly cut out. After trying different batteries, I reckoned the camera had a loose screw issue, but by then it was too late to get coffee from a café, so I headed home.
After tea, I dismantled the camera, and after locating the screw, and finding the camera still wasn't working, I replaced the DC DC board from a camera that had lost its lens. I had been meaning to get this camera working again by buying a new lens and sensor part. I will have to get some thread lock so it doesn't happen again.
I will be looking at buying a new Powershot G16 camera which would mean my workflow doesn't change, or should I buy the new Sony RX100. Decisions.
