Green Shieldbug

This little insect proved to be a challenge to photograph. Then I had to go through the process of identifying it. This proved difficult because it didn't quite match the picture in our book. Further investigation revealed that it was indeed a green shield bug but it was in it's fourth instar.

I had never heard the term instar before and I have learnt that it is a development stage in an insect's life cycle between each moult.
