Furthest Beach from the Sea

Had a splendid couple of hours today at the local beach, albeit not an actual real life beach. Once a year in our village for they throw up a pretend beach for a few days, complete with sand, water, fair rides, burger bar, and other seaside goodies.

Considering our neck of the woods in the Midlands is about as far from the coast as you can probably get in the UK, it's surprisingly effective, and the kids had a blast. It's probably a job lot of builder's sand they are playing about in here, but it doesn't matter. Kids and sand go together like... well like kids and sand.

Maybe we should move to the coast. It's likely just a distorted point of perspective, but it always seems like people are a just a tiny bit happier when they live close to the sea.
Then again... I'd have to put up with the likes of me coming and invading my space every Summer. So on second thoughts.. maybe not.
