i- eye Day 73: - Evil Under the Sun
Burgh Island, haunt of Agatha Christie and inspiration for her novel. Not looking very evil today. Somewhat unfriendly though, as the owners don't like plebs visiting the island - they unsuccessfully tried to have the public rights to roam removed from the island, and the pub has a sign saying it is for the use of "hotel visitors and regulars only". The island is very Famous Five-ish; we need a geologist though to explain the strange rock formations in extras.
We thought we might have tea on the terrace of the hotel, but again, only residents are welcome. Sod 'em; we came back to Cap'n Jasper's on The Barbican and had four massive mugs of tea and four enormous bacon sandwiches for less than a tenner.
Bit of mooching around Plymouth, including driving past the house I was born in, and then down the street where my mum grew up, only to find her house had been knocked down and replaced by new box-like dwellings. Now we are relaxing before a meal out tonight followed by much arguing over who is paying!!
We managed some sleep last night with the help of earplugs. Sarah couldn't even hear me snoring.
