Gardenday
Not that we did much gardening today but much of the day has a garden theme and I needed a prettier picture than of late.
The day started with a plumber, as tends to be our typical day. He replaced the errant ball valve and added a stopcock - something I could have done, but not while the houseful of guests needs our attention.
After breakfast, we had gardening visitors in connection with the Quiet Garden movement with whom we're affiliated. The visitors included the gardener from Woodbrooke, a Quaker learning centre in Birmingham, and another who turns out to be a consultant to the National Trust on their historic gardens. Predictably, it proved to be an interesting discussion about what to do with ours.

The wild flower meadow that we've started with as an experiment in the cleared Lower Garden, is providing some pleasing if erratic colour now. Not sure if the poppies and evening primroses were in the seed mix or whether they've just emerged now they are getting light and air. They're very welcome, however they've arrived.
