Here there and everywhere

Bb and I spent the morning running around (chance would be a fine thing!) getting the requisite paperwork for me to claim sickness benefit. It would have normally been done sooner but with Bb's absence it just wasn't practical for me to get it done on my own or even with friends' help. There was always just one thing missing and when we were almost there we then found out that that the papers that show we'd registered our residency in Barcelona had expired! It isn't a legal requirement to do this, but it facilitates certain processes and is necessary for others. One of those others is being allocated a state doctor in your area and only a state doctor can issue you with a 'baja', the official document needed to claim sickness benefit. Eventually we got there and the doctor we saw was delightful and even backdated the 'baja' to the day of the accident. He also gave me prescriptions for three more boxes of injections, which will hopefully cover me (and more) for the period of having the plaster on. On Monday, there's the final step in the paperwork process as we missed the closing time today of 2.30pm.

This was all done with my being in our rented wheelchair and with Bb doing the pushing. It made it all manageable and the doctor was hugely in favour of it, saying that it would save damage being done to my knee and hip of 'the good leg'. However, it takes a bit of getting used to and I'm more than a bit of a back seat driver! I'm used to being in control and I felt vulnerable and exposed in the wheelchair.

On a much more pleasant note, we met Philippa for a drink tonight 'after work' and had a catch up on 'my' course. It was a bit of a thank you to her too for all the help those last two weeks.

Here we are in Plaza St Jaume, where I refused to be photographed in the carriage!
