Gazania Mohawk.
Gazania is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, native to South Africa. Producing large daisy like flowers over a long period in summer, they are often grown as drought tolerant ground cover. Named after Theodorus Gaza a 15th century translator of the works of Theophrastus (371-287 B.C.) who was considered the 'Father Of Botany.'
Finding out the history of this flower is one of the things I enjoy about blip, as of course, I didn't know any of this before looking it up. I also like the details of the pictures on other people's journals, such as stately homes, churches, far off places etc. It's great fun.
