Orphan Duck...
We went down to Shropshire to visit some friends who live on a farm down there. It all looks pretty idyllic with them living in a house that dates, in parts, to Tudor times. But it is hard work of course.
In the kitchen, they were raising an orphan duck. The duck now regards itself as part of the family and follows people around the house. Eventually they will build him a run the garden where he will live. Having such close contact with humans means he’s never going to be entirely happy with the other ducks on the pond just outside the garden.
I bonded with the duck. It was suggested that I might like to take him back to Manchester, and I was sorely tempted, but he’s a country duck and not used to city ways so, sadly, I left him in Shropshire…
