Commemoration of Mike Brown's Death
For the past three days there have been panels, workshops, and events around Portland to commemorate the death of Mike Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, on August 9. The chief organizer of these events was a woman of African descent named Teressa Raiford. Today she and Diane Chavez, another protester peacefully demonstrating, were arrested by a very large contingent of police (fourteen police cars and a van). It has been an intense and moving time.
The pill bottles the man with the sign and other people are holding are shakers, used as percussion instruments to aid the chanting.
