Helensburgh

D#1 phoned last night and suggested a jaunt to Helensburgh on the Gare Loch, which we hadn't been to for several years. Mumzi will know what a coincidence that was!

Unfortunately the tide was out, so the views of the prom with vast swathes of seaweedy shore weren't great, but I've added a couple to the extras. Some of the shops on the seafront were looking a bit rundown, but there are some lovely shops and even lovelier houses in the town.

Having eaten our picnic on the windy prom and warmed up over coffee in a café, we walked up to The Hill House, one of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's masterpieces, but decided it was too late by then to pay to do the tour, having been round already years ago when we had a visitor.

The rain started just as we were heading back to the car, so we were lucky.
