A very happy day.
Here is Knottman's Canadian niece and her two daughters who together with our niece's husband and Mrs.K's sister are staying with us at the moment.
We have had a lovely day. Started with a walk up Orrest Head above Windermere where the views of the Lake District in every direction are most impressive. This of course was the minor hill which inspired the young Alfred Wainwright to write his seven volume classic guidebooks to walking the Lakeland Fells.
A good lunch in Ambleside was followed by a quick visit to Rydal and Grasmere.
Finally a visit to the stunning Holeherd Gardens where the wonderful displays are all created and maintained by the volunteer members of the Lakeland Horticultural Society.
Its a great joy to have such a lovely family staying with us and to be able to give them just a glimpse of the glories of the English Lake District.
