Butterflies, lakes and alpenhorn
Taking the earliest train to our starting point, we set off in peace and quiet up a stunning valley with butterflies dancing all about. Most of them dodged my efforts to get them on blip and some I had never seen the like of before - it was wonderful. After a hot steep climb over the pass, we enjoyed cooling off at one of the lakes on the other side (yes, I had a dip - too irresistible). As we descended the neighbouring valley to our final lake and destination (meeting the train again on the other side after it tunnels its way through the mountain), we came across a band of alpenhorn players. The sounds of jazz as well as traditional tunes played on alpenhorn in this setting were truly memorable! (And yes, not all alpenhorn players are male).
